Publisher's Synopsis
Welcome to the 2BeLikeChrist Bible study series. This series intends to introduce each chapter of the Bible and help readers understand God's story piece by piece. We begin at the beginning in the book of beginnings, Genesis.
Genesis records how God created the world in 6 days and gave a paradise home to the first humans. Their names were Adam and Eve, and they lived in the God's garden until, one day, they made a mistake that changed the world forever. Their mistake cost them their closeness with God and thrust them into a cruel world filled with pain, sorrow, and evil. The story of Adam and Eve is important because it is our story. We have all made mistakes that separate us from God, we've corrupted His good creation by violating His principles, and it is those violations (sins) that collectively make the world a hard place to live. But God had a plan to fix what we've broken, and Genesis introduces us to some of the main characters who God used to facilitate that plan. As we progress through Genesis, God draws our attention to one family, the family of Abraham, through which He intended to bring a Savior to fix the broken world. But before we can talk about the Savior, some backstory is required. We need to visit ancient Egypt, Canaan, Babylon, Assyria, and meet historical figures like Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Nebuchadnezzar, Samson, and Mary. That said, the Bible is more than a book about places, names, and historical events, it's a book that will teach you about the God who created you and it will teach you about yourself. It contains the inspired record of God's words and interactions with the world. If you read this book with an open mind, you won't be the same by the time you finish. The Bible is meant to change you. "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." - Jesus of Nazareth
