Games and Fun Activities - Young Pathfinder.

This text focuses on ways of successfully carrying out activities in a foreign language with young learners. The many activities given in the book are for pupils at primary level but all the games are suited to year 7 and 8 learners, ages 4 to 14 year-olds, and children with special educational needs.;The author shows that games are a good means of developing listening/speaking skills in young learners, and provide a meaningful context for practising new a language. The wide range of activities have been tried and tested by classroom teachers and they can be adapted for use in several languages. Language practice and enjoyment form the key elements to all the games. The games are divided into broad catagories: songs and rhymes; listen and do; listen and make; board games; flashcard activities, and also into types: memory; matching; and guessing.;The book offers suggestions for teachers on how to select activities suitable for their particular learners and environment. Guidance is given on preparation, management and orgainzation, and there is a section on creating your own games. In particular, practical support is given to primary teachers who are new to foreign language teaching. For instance, all the games and activities have examples of suggested target language instructions for teachers.
