Inscribed by the author on the title-page: 'To Inez, with love from Helen, July 1925'. The recipient was Inez Chandos-Pole of Radbourne Hall in Derbyshire - a cousin of Helen Rootham's friend Edith Sitwell, though the latter did once describe her relation as 'that world-scourge'. Rootham the governess of Edith Sitwell in the early years of the century, and a lifelong companion - as well as being a musician, she translated from French - including an edition of Rimbaud with an introduction from her erstwhile charge.Scarce.
