Part of a four-stage course taking secondary students from complete beginners to intermediate level. Students are encouraged to work out for themselves how the language functions and to contrast English with their own language. This students' book comprises 48 lessons, in eight blocks, with every sixth lesson being a revision lesson, which also contains reading skills work.;The course offers a mix of characters, topics and cartoons, designed to motivate students and involve them in the world of English. There is a cast of characters from a South London school and some lessons are based on people and places from around the world.;The course takes an overt approach to grammar, with new language signalled in each lesson. At the same time, students are encouraged to discover for themselves how certain elements of the language work. Students are also given opportunities to discuss their learning in their own language, with their teacher and with other students. Games and puzzles are also featured.
