Life was pretty simple in the fictional southern town of Charity Junction, Alabama. Miss Ebbie Catherine Sullivan is a precocious, inquisitive and dynamic twelve year old who writes letters to the world from her front porch or her feather bed, her hound dog Blue at her feet. Her mother, MIss Charity, is a mail order bride and her Papa is a shoemaker from up north. At first glance it seems she writes solely about the mishaps and adventures of her young life but there are deeper things that disturb her. Ebbie Catherine cares about the people the world seems to have thrown away and she cares about a life beyond this small, southern town and the dreams of what her life will one day become as she uses her pen to change the world. Someone has to do something about the causes of her era and Miss Ebbie Catherine sets about to do just that. This is the first in a series and this book ends when Ebbie Catherine is sixteen. The series will follow her throughout her lifetime.
