From a Chair by the Window A 31 Day Devotional

I often find myself in a chair by a window reflecting on God, His word, His ways, my struggles, and blessings. If you have spent time in a hospital room, you know where that chair sits, at the end of the bed, and in the corner by the window. At home, I sit for hours at a time, in a chair that looks out a picture window across our front yard. I have often seen the sunrise there and have been reminded that Joy comes in the morning. Many nights have been long with the darkness overwhelming my thoughts and prayers, but when the sun rises, and the warmth reflects in the trees, hope overshadows the night, and rest in Christ, the Morning Star, brings a renewed peace again. The sunsets and how the warm glow jets across the sky are always a reminder of God's glory. It brings a sustaining strength, all while reminding me that we are never alone. Even in the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are there, Father, Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23)I have made it through these past years because God meets with me at the chair by the window. I pray that you may find encouragement from some of the time I have spent there. May you even find your chair where you can find rest for your weary soul...Choose wisely...
