Publisher's Synopsis
From The Chaparral is a memoir and genealogy by Col. John Russell Stephenson that chronicles his life growing up in The Chaparral of South Texas between San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas. He traces his lineage from the Mayflower, through his family's arrival to Texas in 1838, and on to the generations that follow him. This is the story of a little boy who grew up swimming in the clear waters of the Frio River, hunting wildlife, working in the oil field. His family lived in what is now the Calliham United of the Choke Canyon State Park.
