Publisher's Synopsis

One of Americas most prolific poets in the latter half of the twentieth century, Bonnie May Malody has been published an average of nearly three times a month for over three decades! Even so, this is the first ever compilation of her beautifully descriptive work. Born Bonnie May Thomas in rural Missouri, she attended Joplimo High School in Joplin, where she was a member of the Quill and Scroll Club and worked on the school newspaper. After graduating in 1931, she married Lawrence Virgil Malody and moved to San Diego, California, in the early forties during World War Two with their young daughter, Marcia. Bonnies first poem published in a major publication was in 1955 in Cats Magazine. She soon became one of the favorites of the Christian Science Monitor and was published there nearly four-hundred times alone. She also worked as a "Special Contributing Editor" for Readers' Digest and has been published in many magazines and newspapers throughout the U.S. and abroad. This project began in the early 1990's at the request of a fan who was also an author, lover of nature and Professor Emeritus at San Diego State University. Failing health forced them to shelve the project. Before she passed away, my grandmother asked me to someday take the project up and finish it. What began as a promise and a task became a gift as I have been able to view the world through her descriptively beautiful vision. For lovers of nature and poetry everywhere, this book is a small sample, including some originals yet unpublished, of the vast body of work from Bonnie May Malody.
