Publisher's Synopsis
Made-for-TV drama which brings to life the true story of Peg and Gene Mullen, parents who campaigned vigorously for the truth following their son's death in the Vietnam War. Peg (Carol Burnett) and Gene (Ned Beatty) are naturally devastated when a representative of the US Army arrives to tell them that their son has been killed in Vietnam. The official's explanation of 'friendly fire' as the cause of the death disturbs them even more, and they set out to try and find out exactly what happened. As they repeatedly bang up against a wall of bureaucratic evasion, they find themselves drawn into the burgeoning anti-war protests of the early 1970s and asking increasingly serious questions about the motives of the US Army and the country as a whole.
