Deed books should always be consulted when doing genealogical research. Deed books typically contain records of land transactions, mortgages, bills of sale, slave manumissions, and powers of attorney. Records generally include the full names of all persons involved in the transaction, sum paid, description and location of property, date of transaction and date recorded.
This volume contains records from Fredericksburg City, Virginia, Deed Book C, 1794-1804, beginning on page 1 through page 446, for courts held 25 July 1794 through 20 April 1807. An every-name and place index adds to the value of this work.
