Deed books should always be consulted when doing genealogical research. Deed books typically contain records of land transactions, mortgages, bills of sale, slave manumissions, and powers of attorney. Records generally include the full names of all persons involved in the transaction, sum paid, description and location of property, date of transaction and date recorded.
This volume contains records from Fredericksburg City, Virginia, Deed Book A, 1782-1787, beginning on page 1 through page 352, for courts held 21 October 1782 through 23 March 1792. An every-name and place index adds to the value of this work.
