Publisher's Synopsis

This account of bereavement is by a mother whose son suffered a cot death at the age of ten weeks. The author wrote the book as an attempt to reach out for the normality of life - by describing the normality of death. Her grief for Freddie was heightened, she felt, because there was so little communication about death; when faced with her pain, people buttoned their lips in silence. Sarah Key is not critical of the doctors and professional sympathizers - just surprised how little they had to offer - and the book offers to others a view of death which no one was able to offer her at the time of her own bereavement.
