Mary Shelley is most widely known for her novel Frankenstein. Originally published in 1818, Frankenstein has been remembered throughout the years in many different renditions and parodies, as well as an easily recognizable Halloween costume. After her husband's death, Shelley compiled his poetry and essays for publication. Shelley was not only famous for her writing, but also for her lifestyle, which many of her time considered scandalous, with her husband, Percy Shelley, and other prominent authors of the time period, including Lord George Gordon Byron.
