In the aftermath of rock-bottom, Peter's life is an unremitting season of winter that he cannot escape, so must live through. Can he become a better man on the other side? In the meantime, his crime sends ripples out into the world, to wash over the people he cares about. They have no reason to forgive him, even if he could find a way to show he's changed. Ben and Lily both lost people that night out on the bay. As they heal from that pain, can they possibly find one another? Given that Peter was what brought them together, maybe they shouldn't try.
