Many musicians have written candidly about their lives in music. It is Rita's roots in poverty, her insights about life situations, and a personal voice that make this book unique.

A young girl raised in poverty in rural Kentucky finds she has one gift to connect her to the world. That gift is her ability to sing. For the next five decades, performing on stages across the country and in a variety of venues, she observes life at its best and worse. Rita's humble beginnings, strong work ethic, and solid family ties keep her head on straight while those around her are losing theirs. The author's road stories are not empty tales, but lessons learned about life through the medium of music.

Rita Beach has been a working musician, singer, and songwriter all of her adult life. During her years of teaching, after completing a B.S. and M.S. Degree in Education, she was always working as a singer in local music clubs several nights a week. After a few years of teaching, her love of singing won out, and she began a career in music full-time. She performed in the national, regional, and local arenas in a variety of venues--clubs, festivals, fairs, and community events. This gave Rita the experience she needed to cross the entire spectrum of music.

Four Beats to Every Measure is the result of her desire to capture the lessons learned about life through her music. This is not just one person's story, but the stories of others who touched her life and influenced Rita and her music legacy.
