Information is knowledge that "puffs up." Hosea says "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge," but he is revealing our need for the application necessary for the salvation of our souls. Many teach that Solomon asked GOD for "wisdom" when in reality he asked for an "understanding heart (1 Kings 3:9)."
