The collections of Messrs. S. H. Kerfoot, Sr., and N. K. Beckwith. Both deceased, show the wide range of the tastes of the earlier coin collect ors. These were made years ago, and are probably the first of consequence in Chicago. Mr. Kerfoot was the first president and Mr. Beckwith the first secretary of the original Chicago Numismatic Society, and it is fitting that their accumulations should be dispersed at the same time.
