Setting out to explore a part of Havana not frequented by tourists, the geographical scope of these photographs is restricted to a single road, the Calzada del Diez de Octubre. Although this historic road's function as the principle route to the South has been superseded with the construction of new highways, the Calzada remains a busy urban thoroughfare. Through engaged portraits, candid observation and an eye for both architectural detail and the imposing facades that stand as testament to the changing styles of a century, an intimate portrait is drawn.
