Life story and ethnographic studies of Ibis, an Estonian, a citizen of the Russian Empire, a naval warrant officer, and a participant in the frigate Askold on the circumnavigation of the globe from 1872 to 1876. In 1875, Ibis traveled alone to Taiwan on a daring formosa journey. He wrote a detailed report and published two articles in journals. He was a Russian who came to Taiwan to investigate after the Russian military officer Terentiev.
