Publisher's Synopsis

The 4A Reading Glossary is a compendium of "hard-to-find" words that come up in the required books on the 4A-1 and 4A-2 Reading Guides. By "hard-to -find" is meant words that students would not find in a good dictionary for their reading level. (In this case the Scholastic Children's Dictionary. Explanations are simple, conceptual and clearly written, so students don't have to look up a lot of words to understand them. This glossary puts a tool into students' hands that they can use to read and learn more independently. It is also reasoned that with word explanations plentiful and very easy to find and "grok", students will learn more vocabulary and will (ideally) develop more familiarity and a better understanding of what it's like to understand what is read, and greater reach for doing so.

The glossary has several maps developed by Heron Books.

Overall it provides a tool with which students can read in greater depth and with a richer understanding.
