Putting that into context, it is about the time of the first tentative steps of the Romans into Britain. Within 46 years the full invasion takes place and Queens Boudicca rises up against them. But before that, Lauren has to survive in the strange environment she finds herself in. Briton AD, is a very different land to the one we know, heavily forested, mainly inhabited by hunter-gatherers, violent tribes and raiders, many wild animals that are now extinct, such as wolves, bears and lynx wild cats. Queen Alyssa appears to have magical powers, the ability to look into Lauren's heart and soul, and feel the connection across the vastness of time. She gives Lauren a chance of survival within the warrior women that guard the hill fort they live on, albeit under great suspicion and hostility. She has no option but to integrate. Her following adventures are wild and varied, however, being athletic and an accomplished archer and with the help of a new-found friend, she starts her new life. A tale of three powerful and determined women, the struggles that go on between them, of danger, treachery and hate, as well as the loyalty, love and tenderness shown between them: Of the battles fought and the lifestyles and festivals of that era.
