Born in Barbados, trained in art at the Chelsea School of Art and now Lecturer in Art and Design Education at the Institute of Education, Paul Dash is one of London's favourite academics and a well-known artists, exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy. In this autobiographical account he describes his arrival in England from Barbados in 1950 at the age of 11 and the cultural spaces in which he has found himself over the ensuing 50 years.
