Nastasia Harold defies all the norms of an eighteen-year-old junior in high school. She is the number one snare drummer in the state, is the front-runner for drum major, and has the richest parents in the tristate area. Everything seems perfect, right? But Nastasia holds a dark, brooding secret that can only be satiated by two things--alcohol and cocaine.
Isaac Dorner is a strikingly handsome twenty-eight-year-old assistant band director that just landed his dream job at Riverside High School. Expecting a normal job to eclipse his far-from-normal personal life, he gets something else entirely--Nastasia Harold. To both their surprise, they find a sort of solace within each other after discovering they both share the same terrible loss.
Nastasia tries to turn her life around but her darkness is too consuming to be eclipsed by even the only light in her life---Isaac. With inevitably crossing paths and hopeless attempts to dismiss the budding love they share, neither of them see a way out.
They connect in a way that cannot be explained or forgotten. They both grieve. They both lost someone dear to them; but they do not know that they will lose each other. They both need to heal. But neither of them has ever thought that to heal, they will need each other.
