Publisher's Synopsis

The novel Folkvangr begins in Greenland with the famous historical figure, Freydis. She is the sister of Leif Erickson, the adventurer who discovered Vinland. Their father, Erik the Red, was banished from Iceland only to establish settlements in Greenland. He later brought his family to Greenland, where it is believed they lived out their lives.

While living in Greenland, Freydis meets with the Goddess Freya. Freya is the goddess of love and fertility. She rules over Folkvangr, which is thought to be a large and beautiful meadow. When warriors fall in battle, Valkyries bring half to Valhalla and the remaining half may find themselves dwelling in Folkvangr.

Freya discovers that warriors from Valhalla wish to continue conquering and seek power. They are not satisfied in the great hall, and their goal is to enter the mortal world in order to wreak havoc and gain control. These warriors include Harald Fairhair, a mysterious dark elf, and other well known Vikings.

Freya has a plan to help save Midgard, the mortal world and with the help of Freydis and many loyal followers, they will attempt to overcome enormous obstacles in order to achieve this goal. Freydis and her companions must journey through unknown lands, and sacrifice a great deal in order to protect others.
