Publisher's Synopsis
This book contains charming modern interpretations of seventeenth century floral designs from the village of Assendelft in The Netherlands. Unusually for that period, the designs are realistic, not stylised, and include flowers rarely seen in traditional European folk art: daffodils, iris, cornflowers, lily of the valley, grape hyacinth, heart's ease - and robin redbreasts and bluetits - as well as tulips and roses. The technique required is very simple, based on just a few strokes, and results are satisfyingly complex. Complete patterns and instructions are included for numerous projects, including boxes, trays and a trinket chest.
