Publisher's Synopsis

This Waverley mini notebook celebrates 'Flower of Scotland', composed by Roy Williamson, of The Corries. Bound in Flower of Scotland tartan cloth, woven in the UK by The House of Edgar. Comes with 92 pages, pen, and a leaflet with 4 Scottish songs. 'Flower of Scotland' (Scots: Flooer o' Scotland, Gaelic: Fl.r na h-Alba) is a Scottish song which has become the unofficial national anthem of Scotland, performed at special occasions and sporting events. The lyrics refer to the victory of the Scots, over Edward II, led by Robert the Bruce at the Battle of Bannockburn, 1314. The song was first heard publicly in a 1967 BBC television series and has grown in popularity over the years, preferred by many as a national anthem, over 'Scots Wha Hae', 'Caledonia' and 'Scotland the Brave'. In a poll, conducted by The Royal Scottish National Orchestra in 2006, to determine which tune the country should use as it national anthem, 'Flower of Scotland' came top and took 41 per cent of the vote. These Scottish song notebooks are inspired by the importance of the ballads and songs of Scotland in the country's life, heritage and culture.
