Publisher's Synopsis

Despite the high walls of his prison at the City Dog Pound, Jake has big ambitions. He wants to become a professional airline pilot and learn to speak perfect Parisian French. After a daring escape he works to overcome his fears and discover his dreams. His breathtaking adventures lead him into aeronautic dogfights over the skies of Northern Africa; visits to the beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris; and a hairy situation near the exotic Canary Islands. An evocative page-turner written by a grandfather and grandson author duo, Jake's Journeys joyfully demonstrate that you can overcome any obstacle with perseverance and passion.

Jim FC Shepard is a retired business executive who led as CEO for both Finning International and Canfor. He relieved the stress from guardianship of companies that spanned four continents by writing children's stories, including Jake's Journeys. His work combines adventurous tales with insight into air travel across many decades. Shepard received the Order of British Columbia in 2015 for his contribution to the province. He lives in Vancouver, B.C., with his family.

Charlie (Rocky) Shepard is 11 years old and a straight A student at St. George's School in Vancouver, B.C. When he isn't working with his grandfather to create and edit adventure stories, he enjoys playing basketball, golf and rugby, and fundraising money for local charities that support underprivileged children.
