Publisher's Synopsis
Maddie is chosen to be sacrificed to please the Guardian in her small hometown, Ocea. The first chance she gets, Maddie flees with three of her friends. They think it is over, based on the rules set in place in the community, but after Maddie gets attacked by an Order, their fears resurface. They realize their small town won't let their chosen sacrifice away that easily. Maddie tries to run away from her foster family when the attacks start, but will she make it out on her own? Will Ocea find her and cut her life short in the name of the Guardian?
