Publisher's Synopsis

Double bill featuring two popular sci-fi thrillers. In 'Flatliners' (1990), a Chicago medical student (Kiefer Sutherland), fascinated by reports of near-death experiences, decides to try it himself. In secret, his colleagues put him under anaesthetic, stop his heart and then bring him back to life. The experiment proves successful and each of the friends try it in turn but, as time moves on, the memories of their experiences in limbo begin to invade their waking lives in the form of terrifying hallucinations. 'Twelve Monkeys' (1995) is directed by former 'Monty Python' star Terry Gilliam. In the year 2035, the world has been decimated by a virus which originated back in 1996. Convict James Cole (Bruce Willis) is selected to travel back in time to trace the virus to its source. The first attempt at time travel lands Cole back in 1990, where he is diagnosed as a schizophrenic and committed to a mental institution. Can he escape and get to the right year to prevent the virus's outbreak?
