Publisher's Synopsis
Tony Duchenne saves the life of Ambrose Halder, the exiled ruler of Sansovino, a small Caribbean island now controlled by Aloysius Morane. Halder wants to square his account with Morane, whatever the cost, and eventually Tony agrees to go to Sansovino to gather information, but soon the action shifts to the tranquil Berkshire countryside. A professional assassin - Bennie Lucas - is called in to take care of Morane. At the last moment Tony has change of heart and wants to stop the killing, but he is too late - Bennie knows how these matters should be done and Tony Duchenne is merely a spectator.
