Publisher's Synopsis
Daniel Rawson finds himself stranded on foot, with French soldiers in fierce pursuit. A kindly farmer loans him a carthorse on which to escape but on returning it he finds the farmer's house ablaze and the farmer near death apparently at the hands of English soldiers. Daniel enlists the help of his old friend, Sergeant Henry Welbeck, to investigate cases of arson in similar raids. However French Commander, the Duc de Vendome is becoming hell-bent on capturing Daniel, revenge will finally be sought at the bloody battle of Oudenarde.
