Publisher's Synopsis
When Richard asks Jane to marry him, he is thinking to do the right thing for their unborn child. Thoughts about love and partnership never accutaly pass through his mind. For almost a week Jane refuses to have anything to do with him, but when she tells about the pregnancy to her aunt, she convinces her to do the right thing for the sake of the baby. Richard makes all the arrangements and they marry during a lavish ceremony, which makes Jane feel even more insignificant. Richard's mother and sisters are not especially happy to have her into their home and try to make her life difficult. Her new husband notices nothing at first, but when one of the servants points out the problem, he defends his wife. Between them there are still too many unsaid things, but Jane cannot overcome her prejudice about the man and he still has to learn what it is to be married. One month after the marriage, they tell the family about the pregnancy, but Jane was already starting to show. The baby is born prematurely, but thanks to Richard's power and money no one speaks about the fact. There is something new starting to grow between them.
