Does it seem like your Illinois Job search is dragging on forever? Are you beginning to think there aren't any real jobs out there? Do you ever catch yourself wondering if there's a real face behind the hundreds of job postings you've applied to?
When you're looking for a new job it can sometimes feel like the whole world is against you. You're sitting there waiting for the phone to ring, and nothing. No one calls. Except maybe a bill collector or two, or your mom wondering when you're going to stop over and mow the lawn.
Can I ask a personal question? When you're not looking for a job - What do you do?
Most of us come up with all of this gobbledygook for our resume. I sell advertising for the Moline Dispatch. I build John Deere Tractors. I install air conditioners for Doug's Heating and Air Conditioning. I teach Social Studies at John Deere Middle School. I'm an internet marketer at Mills Chevrolet. The problem is there are at least a dozen other people in Moline who do these same things.
What you need to do is tell people "What makes you different!"
You need to tell people what makes you special? You need to share your personal story line?
It's hard for most people to talk about themselves objectively. But if you want to find an Illinois job in this economy you need to develop an arsenal of stories and tactics to help employers get to know the real you.
Be honest. Be yourself. Chances are employers are looking for someone just like you. You just need to help them connect the dots, and understand you are just the person they are looking for.
