After landing safely in Scarlett Bay for a colleague vacation, a twist of fate separates Sloan from her resort. When she awakens in an unfamiliar room with a deep voice speaking behind a screen, her heart nearly pounds from her chest. Who is the man, and why won't he show himself? Before long, she learns he's hiding a secret she can't imagine. Back in St. Anne's Landing, the surgeon she loves learns of her failure to check into the Las Palmeras resort and quickly charters a private jet to Scarlett Bay. On reaching the resort, Rob receives a staff member's recommendation to hire the crusty, larger-than-life Detective Delroy, an ex-body builder and ex-police officer to help him locate Sloan. But Delroy doesn't appear capable of surviving lunch, let alone conducting a search. As the seconds tick by for finding Sloan, Rob hires Delroy, but soon discovers that the detective's shoddy transportation and habit of sleeping until noon seriously hinder their efforts. Despite the ever-increasing odds against him, will Rob find the woman he loves in the raging Caribbean Sea, which harbors over seven-thousand islands, sharks, and a slew of shady characters? It won't matter if the mysterious recluse of Paradise Island has his way. If Jameson can suppress Sloan's memories long enough, he might accomplish his plans, but only if she doesn't flee after uncovering his worst secret-a secret that will leave her reeling from the truth about Paradise Island. EXCERPTS:
1. [Sloan] dug her nails into the earth at her sides and sifted warm sand through her fingers. "Somebody. Help me," she cried. The world spun and cramps seized her abdomen as she raised her head. She braced her belly to ease the dry heaves, but the lack of saliva on her parched, swollen tongue made spitting anything, especially the grit coating her mouth, impossible. She needed water, but first, she had to stand and find higher ground. Beyond her foot, a white object billowed on the water. Was it hers? She patted her body and found nothing missing except for her leg. Her leg? Shrieks sliced the air as panic flooded her veins. 2. "Can't talk. Gotta abdandon ship."
The water in the hull slapped at Rob's knees.
Gripping the kit and preserver, Delroy climbed over the side first.
Rob's calf struck a metal toolbox lid as he forced his legs through the water to reach the spot where the detective had gone overboard. Blood ran down his leg. He stared into the choppy sea and wondered if this was the end of his life. Enjoy the adventure, romance, and suspense in Find Me In Paradise.
