Publisher's Synopsis
FINANCIAL FREEDOM - Sh!t No One Teaches Us:
Why didn't anyone teach me this when I was younger? Arrrgghhhh!!!! It's so frustrating!
I was born in New Zealand in 1967, and I managed to achieve Financial Freedom when I turned 40 and retired at 43.
It wasn't easy - I had to self-teach and navigate along the way. I made a Financial Freedom spreadsheet roadmap in my 20s, and that, along with good financial habits, kept me on my Financial Freedom journey. I wish I had someone to show me the way back then.
Do you work 160+ hours per month to earn money but spend 0 hours per month on how best to make your money work for you? Unfortunately, most spend years like this! Please don't let that be you - because, as my book hopefully demonstrates, achieving Financial Freedom is not super difficult. The younger you work this stuff out, the easier it is to make Financial Freedom happen - that's the power of compounding.
Since retiring 14 years ago, I started giving Financial Freedom sessions around the kitchen table to friends (and friends of friends) from different ages and backgrounds. It struck me that none of this basic Financial Freedom stuff is taught at school or University, at home, or anywhere else. And that has really annoyed me - that's what inspired me to write this book about how to achieve Financial Freedom - the message needs spreading - it needs to go viral!
My target age group is everyone - everyone needs to ensure their money is working smartly for them. There is no 'you are too young' or 'you are too old.' Good habits and making uncomfortable decisions can be adopted by anyone at any time.
It's written in a very down-to-earth (non-academic) style with lots of simple practical (39) guidelines, cool templates to help build your own Financial Freedom roadmap, what to invest in, career progression ideas, retirement considerations, the opportunity cost of bad financial habits, and many other things that will help you on your journey.
Financial stuff can be really boring for many people, so to help remove the "this sh!t is boring to learn," I have thrown in a lot of (hopefully) funny anecdotes along the way: YES, Financial Freedom is a serious matter, and YES, you can have a lot of fun achieving it.
This book is not your normal "I am a financial adviser, so do these things" type book as it's more a "How I made it work for me, but if I had this book when I started out, then it would've been a lot easier." Let's hope I can make it a lot easier for you.
