Publisher's Synopsis
Several times a year people in positions of influence from many countries and from diverse professional backgrounds attend international conferences at Wilton Park. The "Wilton Park Papers" are reports on the proceedings and papers delivered at these conferences.;In the last 20 years the wider availability and growing consumption of cheaper, purer, and more dangerous forms of narcotics have reached epidemic proportions. Given their growing political, economic and social implications, the illicit use of drugs has increasingly been placed higher on the international political agenda.;The principal recommendation of the conference was that vastly increased funding must be made available to combat all aspects of the problem. Continued under-funding the report concludes, will suggest that governments do not genuinely take the drugs problem seriously.
