Publisher's Synopsis
a neurotic's guide to life and being alive and not dying at least not yet
Recently, I went to pick up a card for my partner's birthday. A simple task, no? No. I must have spent 30 minutes scanning, perusing, STARING HELPLESSLY at the birthday cards at this store. I wanted the decision to come intuitively. However, I quickly started questioning exactly what I wanted to SAY with this card.
Was I going for romantic? Did I want to go silly? What part of our dynamic did I want to speak from? Did I want a card that was aesthetically more in line with my style or HIS? What about him and our relationship did I want to highlight here? What kind of energy was I bringing forward to his ENTIRE NEXT YEAR? There is SO much to consider when considering all of this! Dinosaur card? The PlayStation controller? FARTS? Classy? Funny?
Maybe buy two? No. It could only be ONE. ONE card to represent ALL of it. ONE CARD TO RULE THEM ALL. Did I pick the BEST card of all time, in the end? Debatable. But one thing is certain: I am good at overthinking.
