Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Feda: With Other Poems, Chiefly Lyrical
Of the present series, the longest, Fe'da, was written in great part, some time ago, and is, doubtless, full of the faults of youth. It seemed to me, however, that the attempt to treat a simple story of modern life from the poetic side, contained sufficient of novelty to justify its publication. For the other poems, I ought to feel satisfied, if they prove to any one that the privilege of dwelling with beauty, the understanding of Nature's moods and the desire to look beyond, are not wholly inconsistent with the Storm and whirl of active life.
