Publisher's Synopsis

Fathers and Sons is a novel written by Ivan Turgenev in 1867. The story is set in Russia during the mid-19th century and revolves around the relationship between fathers and their sons. The main characters are Arkady, a young man who has just graduated from university, and his father Nikolai, a landowner who represents the older generation. Arkady brings his friend Bazarov, a nihilist and a medical student, to his father's estate. Bazarov's philosophy and behavior challenge the traditional values of the older generation, creating tension and conflict between the two groups. The novel explores the clash between the traditional and modern values of Russian society and the generational divide that exists between fathers and sons. It is considered to be one of Turgenev's most significant works and a masterpiece of Russian literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
