When he's called before the Liaison to discover his future calling, his whole life changes and the world, as he knows it, is turned upside down. Faced with being forced to live by other peoples' rules, he finds it difficult to deal with his relationship with Elora. He has never been unhappy about being matched with her, he just doesn't like being told how to love her.
Davin's friends try to help him on the strange path that has been chosen for him. No matter what doubts he has about the unusual life that is led in Furlin, he knows that he needs to follow the path set for him. It's the only way he will get to be with the one he loves.
