Publisher's Synopsis
Fascinating Biographies of Black Feminist Heroes. An Overview of Black Feminism and Its Inspiring Though ...is a follow-up to a biographical look at the four waves of feminism called Fascinating Biographies of Famous Feminists: A Journey through the History of Women's Fight for Rights, Equality, and Freedom. This is the second work of the author and lover of feminism, Simone Truth, in a series that aims to broaden the looking glass focused on feminism and look at more women who contributed to the diverse and intertwining threads of the women's empowerment movements.
In this book, there is no specific timeline; the focus has shifted to Black feminism and iconic women who contributed to the understanding of African American culture and history. They are Black women who have fought for their people's rights. Some of the icons covered in this book include Maya Angelou, Michelle Obama, Kathleen Neal Cleaver, Oprah Winfrey, Coretta Scott King, and more. When you read about their lives, you'll discover surprising details. There are similarities and differences between these women. For example, it is very evident that all of these icons are highly intelligent and gifted, as this was obvious for most of them from an early age or in elementary school. One may encounter differences among these women because some of them come from poverty and some of them come from middle-class families. Whichever way, these circumstances did not hold them back from achieving what they wanted to achieve. This book describes eleven different women from eleven different backgrounds, all gifted individuals, and how they followed their life's paths to become icons for women and for humanity. Each contributed in their own unique way, and that is what makes this book so fascinatingly addictive and heartwarming. This book will educate you, entertain you, and open up a whole new world to the struggles, sweat, and tears that is Black feminism.
