When slavery ended, it did not provide blacks with a chance to succeed in the sports field because sports was dominated by the majority of whites. Sports offered the talented blacks a chance for stardom than most other types of work. Blacks slowly enlarged their grip and earned fame strictly-and quietly-by perfecting their talents and pursuing their goals with determination.
