Publisher's Synopsis

We all are products of our heredity and our environment. These two factors more than any others serve to determine who we are and how we relate to the world in which we live. We can do little to change the DNA we inherited from our parents. Things like the color of our skin, eyes, and hair, the shape of our nose and body, our height and to some extent our weight are predetermined. Environment, too, plays a role in how we perceive the world. For instance, things like religion, political leanings, the kinds of food we prefer, and even our accents are culturally defined. While these factors can change, most often they remain with us all our lives. To better understand how we became the people we are, we need to possess a clear understanding of those who passed these traits to us. That is best achieved by the telling of our family stories. This book is an effort to do just that. While it is written to enlighten my own children and grandchildren, it is my hope it will encourage and inspire others to tell their family stories.
