There are several lines of Lewis families in the Carteret County, North Carolina area, and many of them have inter-mingled and married with other Lewises, as well as other prominent family names in the area. This lineage traces Thomas Lewis, Sr., who was born between 1680 and 1735, who married Mary Taylor, born between 1680 and 1745, who gave birth to Mary Lewis, who married Walterman Gibbs.
