In this second installment of the lives Joined Ones we learn how the young--and not so young--colonists deal with being Joined with an alien presence. Learning to control their new abilities without hurting anyone else or each other turns out to be a challenge. Especially when you can hear every thought, feel every emotion.
Under embargo, the colony is just beginning to feel the pinch of dwindling supplies when the the people of earth add insult to injury by sending a Peacekeeper force to investigate the alien presence.
The members of Townsend colony have some tough decisions. Do they abandon the Joined Ones or join forces with them against their neighbors on the planet. Do they cooperate with the Peacekeepers or keep the colony's secrets?
