In the beginning, before the fall, Lucifer was the most beautiful and powerful of all the angels. He stood beside the throne of God and was a beloved son of Heaven.
Now as a fallen angel, Lucifer has always been fascinated by human souls. When he accidentally kills a woman while trying to inhabit her lover's body, he becomes obsessed with her soul's scent, realizing that he cannot live without it. This leads to a fierce feud between him and his most loyal guard, John, who is disgusted by Lucifer's actions.
Lucifer will stop at nothing to protect and keep the soul for himself, even going through a risky surgery to intertwine the soul with his own. He believes that in doing so, he will be able to find her in the next life.
When the soul returns, and Lucifer's obsession with it has only grown stronger. However, he and John have had a falling out, and John will do anything to keep the soul away from his old master so he can keep it for himself.
A bet is made between the two, and the stakes are high.
Lucifer has to get the human that the soul has taken over to fall in love with him, knowing that he is the devil, or he will be cast to the ninth circle of hell and John will rule in his place.
Fallen is a dark and twisted tale of obsession, betrayal, and redemption. It explores the depths of the human (and non-human) psyche and the lengths to which one will go to possess what they believe is rightfully theirs. Will Lucifer be able to win the bet and retrieve the soul he so desperately desires, or will John emerge victorious, leaving Lucifer to face the consequences of his actions alone?
