Publisher's Synopsis

Less than a decade ago, female cricketers earned very little despite the expectations associated with playing at an elite level. Shaun Martyn, founder of FairBreak, recognised the inequality and decided to do something about it. What started with a purity of intention, ran into roadblocks at the highest levels of cricket's establishment.

In May 2022, FairBreak hosted the world's first global T20 cricket tournament in Dubai. Featuring ninety of the world's top female cricketers, no other sports event outside of an Olympic Games has brought athletes from thirty-five nations together in one venue to showcase their skills and sporting prowess.

This book is about a social impact movement striving for equality. Author, Karen Motyka, has given voice to the perspectives of Martyn and the people who have driven the movement forward; the FairBreak management team, the global superstars of women's cricket, and high-profile advocates. Each one of them is a #fairbreaker.

This is a celebration of their effort.

"FairBreak has recognised the commercial value of women's cricket when others have not. In doing so, FairBreak has created new opportunities for women to reach their full potential in our great game. Associate Nations players, now more than ever, can dream of taking on the best in the world on the biggest stage. Geography and gender are no longer barriers to becoming a professional cricketer."

Alex Blackwell, former Australian Women's Cricket Captain
