Publisher's Synopsis
Fair Havens Ministries was established in 1941 as a Family Bible Conference Centre to serve as an extension of the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada. The grounds were developed, programs enhanced, sports facilities upgraded and the ministry expanded more than ever. Fair Havens celebrated its 70th Anniversary on August 5th, 2011. Fair Havens is situated along the Trent-Severn waterway, a Christian campground located between Beaverton and Orillia. Lock 37 is just up the hill, a mere 5 minute bicycle ride from the grounds, a great place to sit on a park bench, read a book or just watch the boats go up and down the lock. But what's on the grounds of Fair Havens itself? There's a whole list of neat and active things: A nine-hole golf course, a tennis court, a basketball court, lawn bowling, a swimming pool, the beach, a baseball diamond, lots of little pathways for walking, mini-golf, and the Connexion cafe. And oh yes, Sunday lunch is just great at the Dining Hall! Fair Havens offers Family Camp, Retreats, Outdoor Education, Stepping Stones for young people, and Volunteering. Though Fair Havens is a busy year-round operation, it is probably best known for its 9 weeks of yearly Summer Family Camp. During this time (July - August), Fair Havens welcomes almost 3000 guests to its grounds to enjoy a week or more time away from home camping, or staying in one of our accommodations or rental trailers. Each week, guests can take part in daily chapel sessions while their children are provided with up to 5 hours of programming and activities. During the non-summer seasons, Fair Havens welcomes many retreat guests, and provides them with top-notch accommodations, dining and meeting room facilities. Also during the non-summer seasons, Fair Glen Youth Camp (part of Fair Havens) facilitates a large number of school groups with its Outdoor Christian Education program. Students come from all over to learn about God's natural creation, as well as earning valuable life skills and respect for the outdoors. Having started part time in 1960, Bill and Ruth Crump became full-time Directors from 1975 to 1981. The Crumps along with Ruth's parents, Rev. and Mrs. Ernie Falconbridge, gave themselves fully to expanding the ministry of Fair Havens. Fair Havens Ministries is owned and operated by the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada.
