Publisher's Synopsis

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Health - Public Health, grade: 1, language: English, abstract: The major purpose of the study was to determine prevalence and factors influencing family planning uptake in Moyo Sub-County, Moyo District. A cross-sectional study was carried out among women aged 18-49 years. The study employed structured questionnaire and KII to collect the data. The data will be analyzed using SPSS version 23 and thematic content analysis for quantitative and qualitative data, respectively. Sub-Saharan Africa continues to have the highest fertility rate due to low contraceptive uptake compared to other regions. Uganda continues to present an undesirable fertility rate of 4.96 births per woman and maternal mortality ratios of 336 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births that are associated with contraceptive non-use. The high fertility rates have contributed to a population growth rate of 3.02%. Moyo has an estimated contraceptive prevalence rate of 22%, uptake rate of 16% and an unmet need for family planning at 21.9%.
