Publisher's Synopsis
This large format volume completes the publication in facsimile of all Anglo-Saxon charters surviving on single sheets. Covering about 30 documents not included in the 19th-century series published by the British Museum and the Ordnance Survey, it also include facsimiles of about 10 documents written in the 12th-century and thereafter, which serve to illustrate the variable quality of the forging and copying of Anglo-Saxon charters after the Norman Conquest. The facsimiles illuminate many aspects of Anglo-Saxon palaeography, diplomatic, language and history, and are accompanied by comments on the particular interest of each document.
